In 2018, the farthest distance I had ever ran was 5km. I didn't think it was possible for my body to run any farther.
I had a cousin who liked to run who told me I could run 10km.
I didn't believe him.
I attended a personal development course in May of 2018 that caused me to rethink everything about myself and my potential.
Soon after, I thought I'd see if I could run 7km. I could.
Could I really run 10km after all? I sure could and sure did.
Well, if 10km was possible, what else could I do? Could I run...a marathon?! I mean, it's possible. I just doubled my longest running distance, why couldn't I keep going?
So, I set a goal to run a marathon by early 2020. I ran a lot. Through the winter, through the snow, through the -30 degree weather.
I built up my "mileage." I started testing different running gels and running gummies to give my body the energy it needed for those long distances.
On Feb 2nd, 2020, I I ran the Surf City Marathon in Huntington Beach, California in 5:06:30.
